The Tischner European University organises a conference “The Borders of European Integration” within the framework of our umbrella research project “The Power in Europe”, sponsored by Office of the Committee for European Integration in Poland.

Our aim is to research the notion of border within the process of European integration through an interdisciplinary approach. It may include: political sciences, economics, sociology, law as well as international relations.

Our intention is to deal with the notion of border as broadly as possible, including its geographical, cultural, social and psychological, civilisation as well as legal aspects. Particularly, we are interested in texts using an interdisciplinary approach of various fields of social sciences.

We cover all costs (travel, conference fee, accommodation, etc.) for the participants whose presentation will be accepted. Those interested in participating (faculties and PhD-candidates) should send 3-4 pages (approx. 6000 characters) abstracts of their presentations and CVs until 31 January 2005 on the following e-mail address.

If accepted for presentation, 8 page draft conference papers should be submitted by Wednesday 30th March 2005.
Most of those accepted for and presented at this conference will be published in an ISBN Book.
The conference language will be English.
The conference is organised in partnership with the University of Siena.
