Leverhulme Trust 2005 Early Career Fellowships
All Subject AreasLeverhulme Trust
The Leverhulme Trust is offering approximately 30 Fellowships in all
subject areas, each tenable for 24 months, from the beginning of the
2005 academic year. The awards are to enable successful candidates
to undertake a significant piece of publishable research in a UK
higher education institution and are intended to provide career
development opportunities.
Applicants should be aged under 35 and must hold a doctorate or have
equivalent research experience by the time of starting the
Fellowship. Applicants aged 35 and over may apply if they began
their academic studies at a later age than usual or have had a
career change/break. Applicants must either hold a first degree from
a UK higher education institution or be or have recently been a
member of the UK academic community and intend to remain so. Those
registered for a doctorate may apply only if they have submitted
their doctoral thesis by the closing date.
The scheme operates on a pattern of joint support whereby the
Leverhulme Trust contributes 50% of the Fellow's total salary costs
up to an annual limit of £19,000, and the host institution matches
this. Research expenses of up to £5000 a year are also available.
Application materials (reference ECF2) are available until 8 March
from www.leverhulme.ac.uk or by sending an A4-size envelope stamped
for 150g to the Secretary, Research Awards Advisory Committee, The
Leverhulme Trust, 1 Pemberton Row, London EC4A 3BG. Closing date for
applications: 4 p.m. on Tuesday 15 March 2005.
